Kiama Youth Centre is a service of Kiama Municipal Council and has been located in Hindmarsh Park, Kiama since 1993 providing support and referral for young people 12 – 24, who may be dealing with complex issues or providing a range of recreational, educational and community development programs and events.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of youth services in the Municipality we plan on undertaking a thorough refurbishment and re-design of the current space aiming to increase our building size and give it an internal facelift for which it is in desperate need of.
To do this appropriately we require the input, ideas and feedback of young people to assist us in providing a space which meets the ongoing needs of youth but also provides an opportunity for future programs and initiatives which will benefit the entire community for many years to come.
To achieve this we have scheduled a series of consultation sessions where young people will be asked for their input on many levels including building design, equipment, internal colour schemes and layouts and use of space.
Consultation sessions will held at the following times and locations:
- Wednesday 15th May, Gerringong Town Hall 6 – 7.30pm.
- Thursday 16th May, Kiama High School at Lunchtime
- Saturday 18th May, Jamberoo School of the Arts 11 – 12.30pm
- Tuesday 21st May, Kiama Library 4 – 5.30pm
- Thursday 23rd May, North Kiama Neighbourhood Centre 5 – 6.30pm
- Wednesday 29th May, Kiama Youth Centre 4 – 5.30pm.
Each session is catered for and there will be prizes for best design.
Times and dates are also available on our facebook page, which can be accessed by visiting ‘Kiama Youth Services’ and ‘liking’ the page.
