The Illawarra Forum is planning to hold events across the region for TEI funded services at local levels to ensure that they are up to speed on the TEIP reform both locally and at a State wide level.
We are eager to hold honest and transparent discussions in an informal setting to allay any concerns, answer questions and equip services to engage meaningfully with the reform.
Our first discussion was held over morning tea at Cafe Essay, Wollongong on the 14th of June for services funded in the Wollongong and Shellharbour LGAs. Can Yasmut from LCSA was also in attendance, so we were able to get an idea of what is happening in other districts around the state.
In the meantime, here is a quick update from our last TEIP Consultative Committee meeting on the 1st of June where we discussed and provided input into the work that has been done by the TEICC sub-groups.
The sub-groups continued the place-based planning that was commenced at the Sector Planning Days in March.
The groups looked at each of the priority suburbs, considering both the vulnerability data and the information gathered at the Sector Planning Days, they then considered which local priority groups were most relevant in these areas (e.g. refugee communities are not settling in all parts of the District; younger parents are more prevalent in some areas than others)
Through identifying outcomes for focus of local services and potential outcome indicators for these suburbs, the sub groups identified the broad TEI Service Options that could help meet the selected outcomes.
The Consultative Committee is beginning to input into the Service System Response Plan and will engage in further development following further community consultations.
