Hepatitis is the inflammation of the liver
At the end of 2015, there were an estimated 227,300 people in Australia living with chronic hepatitis C .
In Australia, it is estimated that around one-in-five people living with hep C remain un-diagnosed and unaware of their condition.
As of 1 March 2016, treatment for hepatitis C, subsidised by the Australian government includes direct acting antiviral treatments, and new treatment options.
These options offer a 97-100% cure rate in as little as 8 weeks.
