The theme for Children’s Week this year is Article 12 of The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child: ‘Children’s views and opinions are respected. They have the right to express those views freely in all matters affecting the child and the right to be heard’.
The awards are designed to recognise the achievements and contributions of children and young people as well as the adults who make positive impacts on the lives of children and young people.
Both the 2017 NSW Youth Advisory Council (YAC) and the 2018 YAC put forward the categories for this year. There are seven award categories specific to children and young people and two award categories specific to adults.
