Connected Learning

The short courses listed below will be offered via Connected Learning this is when students learn with a teacher and other students via web conferencing technology as part of a virtual classroom. Teachers lead a virtual classroom where students from different locations access at the same time.

A learner can participate in the connected classroom by accessing their local TAFE NSW library, from their home or workplace.

To complete a short course learners will require:

  • A computer or tablet with internet access, and preferably, a webcam/camera
  • Headphones & mic (gaming headset or smartphone headphones will work)
  • Notebook & pen

TAFE Statement in Accidental Counselling

Course Fee: $185.00

This short course aims to provide non-counsellors with a range of basic counselling skills and principles. It will be useful for those who often find themselves in a ‘counselling role by accident’, to support a friend, child, colleague, customer or stranger, in times of distress or difficulty. Participants will gain a practical framework for managing issues and a sense of structure and confidence as they support people.

TAFE NSW – Community Services Short Courses

Skilling for Recovery

SHORT COURSE SKILL SETS EXISTING WORKERS

Funding has been made available through the State Government initiative ‘Skilling for Recovery’. TAFENSW is looking to offer a range of skill sets to assist with economic recovery.

These courses will be offered via a Microsoft Teams connected classroom and students will be able to study from home or attend your local TAFE. Please select one of the skillsets and complete the Expression of Interest below.

Introduction to Community Services

o          CHCCOM001 Provide first point of contact

o          CHCCCS016 Respond to client needs

o          CHCVOL001 be an effective volunteer

Commences 29th April 2021 – Thursday’s 9.30am – 2.30pm for 9 weeks (additional 20 hours Volunteer Work)

Mental Health Peer Work

o          CHCLEG001 Work legally and ethically

o          CHCPWK001 Apply Peer Work in the Mental Health sector

o          CHCPWK003 Apply lived experience in mental health peer work

Commences 26th April 2021 – Monday & Tuesday evenings 5.30pm – 8.30pm for 6 weeks

Case Management for Community Service Workers

o          CHCCSM005 Develop, facilitate and review all aspects of case management

o          CHCCSM004 Coordinate complex case requirements

o          CHCCCS004 Assess co-existing needs

Commences 27th April 2021 – Tuesday’s 6pm – 8pm for 9 weeks

Working with Refugees and Settlement Services

o          CHCSET001 Work with forced migrants

o          CHCSET002 Undertake bicultural work with forced migrants in Australia

Commences 22nd April 2021 – Thursday’s 6pm to 9pm for 5 weeks

To be eligible you must be:

•          17 years old or over

•          no longer at school

•          live or work in NSW

•          an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen
