Creative Minds Course
The Illawarra Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (IWDVCAS) and Family Advocacy Support Service (FASS) are services of Women Illawarra.
We have 27 WDVCAS based across NSW, we’re a not-for-profit organisation.
For those that don’t know we work in partnership with NSW Police Force, NSW Local Courts, the Department of Justice and a range of other stakeholders such as housing and health services. We service the areas between Helensburgh and Gerroa.
Our service provides women and their children with information, support, advocacy and safety planning where appropriate. We also provide referrals to other services including housing, counselling, financial assistance or health services. We work with solicitors from the Domestic Violence Unit or Domestic Violence Duty Scheme, who can provide legal advice on matters including Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders (ADVOs), financial advice, family law, immigration and other issues.
Our service assists:
- Women and their children who are or have been experiencing domestic and family violence, with their legal, social and welfare needs.
- 16 years or older
- Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders
- Women from multi-cultural communities
- Women living with a disability
- LGBTIQ women
In partnership with Kiama Community College we have created a course for women that have or/are living in domestic or family violence situations that may be living with a disability.
This course is based around art, aromatherapy and photography and they will receive RPL at the end of the course.
If you have any clients that may be interested in this course please contact us via email or phone. Alternatively your client can contact us and we can complete all the paperwork to get her enrolled in the course.
