Lifeline’s Out of the Shadows Walk
Create hope this World Suicide Prevention Day.
Join us as we as we walk at sunrise to raise awareness, remember those lost to suicide, and support those who are impacted and continue to struggle with suicide.
Saturday 10 September 2022
This is a very special event as it gives us an opportunity to stand alongside those who have been affected by suicide and remember those we have lost as we walk out of the shadows and into the light.
It comes as new a new data released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics found during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, 1.2 million people were close to someone who had taken or attempted to take their own life in the last 12 months.
A tragedy which we know impacts family, friends and communities.
One in six (16.7 per cent) Australians also reported having had suicidal thoughts or behaviour (across their lifetime), with females (18.7 per cent) having a higher rate than males (14.5 per cent).
There has never before been a more important time to come together in-person as a community to support those who are impacted and continue to struggle with suicide.
