What is Timebanking and could you
or your organisation use it?

Kiama Councils Community and Cultural Development Officer, Louise Croker will be providing an introduction to Timebanking and how your group or organisation can be a part of it.

Timebanking in as online, time-trading system which supports the sharing of skills and assets across our community, using time as currency. It is free and open to both individuals, groups and organisations to utilise.

Meanwhile…. Its also a great opportunity to check out the brand new Shellharbour Civic Centre.

Natasha – NSW Department of Justice 
Victims Service is part of the NSW Department of Justice and provides support services, including counselling and financial assistance to victims of crime in NSW. Natasha’s topics will include:

  • Victims Support Scheme, Safer Pathways, Witness Intermediaries and other projects
  • Eligibility, requirements and the legal process.
  • Support to Family and Friends of Missing Persons
  • Charter of Victims Rights and how the Department assists.

Ryan – Community Safety, Data and Solutions

  • A review of the crime trends and hotspots in the Illawarra region as recorded by the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research.
  • Overview of what a local Council’s community safety officer’s position may include, local safety projects and how these can benefit the community.

Illawarra Interagency 2016

Thanks to Terri’s great organisational skills we are ready to rock and roll with the Illawarra Interagency for 2016.

To celebrate we have couple of things for you to do before the end of the year:

  1. put the dates below in your diary, you will note that we have decided to stick to one location for meetings in 2016, Shellharbour Stocklands Community Room. We are hoping this will provide for more consistency and less confusion.
  2. subscribe to the Interagency newsletter, this is the tool we use to update you with information about the Interagency ie give you meeting reminders, training and workshops etc. To subscribe click here

Illawarra Interagency | Meetings

The next Illawarra Interagency meeting will be Thursday 2 April at Wollongong Council, Level 9 meeting room, 1.00pm to 3.00pm.

The primary purpose of the Interagency is to provide a forum for service providers to build relationships and work collaboratively to improve outcomes for the Illawarra community.

Membership of the Interagency is open to anyone with an interest in supporting the well-being of people who live, work or play in the Illawarra Region.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  •  Community organisations
  • Community groups and associations
  • Services clubs
  • Chambers of Commerce
  • Churches
  • Government agencies
  • Local Members of Parliament (MPs)

Flash Mob Project or Issue Pitch

A 5min spot to get up and ask for help or support from Interagency members for a project or issue. Opportunity is then made available during the Information Share to speak in more detail with those interested in assisting.
