Community Workers Workshop – trauma informed care training

Surviving Child AbuseFriday 22 February 2013 | 9am – 5pm | Wollongong | Click for PDF flyer

This whole day training for community workers provides information and tools to better equip workers in their daily interactions with clients who have experienced trauma, particularly complex trauma as a result of childhood abuse, neglect and other adverse childhood experiences.

Studies show that a large percentage of individuals and families accessing community services are impacted by unresolved trauma. This training alerts workers to the possibility of trauma, informs about its prevalence and impacts, and educates about how to reduce the possibility of re-traumatisation in services.

The training provides the principles of trauma informed care for daily practice. Trauma informed practice has been shown to provide benefits for both workers and clients.
