Changes in opening hours of some Department of Human Services Offices in the Illawarra
The Department of Human Services is making changes to the operating hours of some service centres in order to provide more efficient and consistent service delivery for citizens across the country.
From 29 April 2013, the Department will commence aligning hours from 8.30am to 4.30pm in most service centres that do not already operate with these hours. Corrimal Centrelink Service Centre , Dapto Centrelink Service Centre and the Shellharbour Centrelink Service Centre’s opening hours will change to 8.30am – 4.30pm on 29 April 2013. These opening hours will align with Wollongong (Centrelink and Medicare) and Warrawong (Centrelink and Medicare) Service Centres which currently open between 8.30am and 4.30pm. Shellharbour Medicare Service Centre will still open between 9am and 5pm.
The Department has implemented a number of ways that people can do their Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support business without the need to attend a service centre. Many of these alternatives are available 24/7. Alternative service options include self service channels such as (mobile apps, internet and Interactive Voice Response). Customers can also call one of the Department’s Smart Centres where they can talk to a staff member for the cost of a local call. The Department has also implemented a “place in queue” call back system where you can choose to receive a return call rather than waiting on the phone.
Please contact me if you would like any further information or if you have any questions.
