Illawarra Forum | Grant Writing

The Illawarra Forum has negotiated with the University of Sydney to organise two separate full day Grant Writing sessions in the Illawarra/Shoalhaven region.

This is the ideal, practical Writing a Winning Grant course for any organisation seeking to attain funding by applying for grants. Using exercises to explore topics, it will encourage the writer to develop, direct and edit creative ideas in addition to giving an invaluable guidance on how to present work for submission.

This is an insightful and informative step-by-step grant writing course for grant writers. Aimed at first-time writers and those looking for guidance on the grant writing process, this course acts as an important introduction to the world of philanthropy, grant-making and grant-seeking.

If you’re a fundraiser, you know that raising money is the key to every non-profit’s success. But the competition for funds can be fierce and the obstacles many. This grant writing course provides you with the techniques that you need for a successful submission.

One session will be held in Wollongong on 23 July and one in Nowra on 24 July, each session up to 20 attendees.

The Illawarra Forum will heavily subsidise these sessions as we feel it is important the Illawarra/Shoalhaven are provided with the best opportunities when applying for grants. The cost will be $100 for Illawarra Forum members and $120 for non-members (cost to attend in Sydney is $275 –

In the interest of fairness we are restricting enrollments to only two people per organisation as we anticipate high numbers wanting to attend.

What others say about this course

Great tutor, really engaging and enthusiastic about the subject matter and how to use the knowledge. Overwhelmed by how much practical information and knowledge I gained in that 6 hours.

This course helped me incredibly with my project. Without it I feel I would have been needlessly wasting time and energy. Highly recommended!

I thought the tutor was perfect for this course – very knowledgeable and engaging. The course provided me with many ideas I hadn’t considered previously. Excellent course that I would recommend to all prospective grant writers.

Fantastic course, excellent delivery and most helpful!

Keith was a brilliant facilitator – he was very knowledgeable, personable and funny which made him easy to listen to for a whole day on what can be a dry subject matter. I gained so much more out of this course than I thought I would regarding strategy and fundraising. He also appealed to a room of very different backgrounds and agendas. I thoroughly recommend this course.
