Regional NAIDOC Week Awards | Nominations Now Open

The Local Government Regional NAIDOC Week Awards honour and acknowledge outstanding achievement by Aboriginal people and organisations within our regional community, celebrating the best of Aboriginal talent, culture and community.

As part of our commitment to Aboriginal Australians, Wollongong City Council, Shellharbour City Council, Kiama Municipal Council and Shoalhaven City Council organise this event each year to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

The awards are held in July and rotate between each council area.

Shoalhaven City Council will host the awards this year on Saturday 18 July at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre.

Nominations are now open for the 2015 Regional NAIDOC Awards and will close on Friday 4 July 2014

Nominations will be received for the following categories:

  • Elder of the Year (Female & Male)
  • Community Representative of the Year
  • Young Achiever of the Year (Female & Male)
  • Worker of the Year
  • Organisation of the Year
  • Outstanding Contribution to Reconciliation

Free Workshop for Parents and Supervisors of Learner Drivers

Log Book RunFor those who are teaching someone to drive….

The next Free workshop for parents and supervisors of learner drivers will be held at Kiama Municipal Council, in the Old Council Chambers (RSL Room) next
Wednesday 9 April 2014 from 6.00pm – 8.00pm

The workshop is aimed to help you with practical advice on teaching learners how to drive….

If you want to get more hours for your learner driver log book come along to the night time Log Book Run.

There is an opportunity for learner drivers and supervisors to experience a variety of driving conditions including Police RBT, Speed Checks and Driver Reviver.

Night Time- Log Book Run

Tuesday night time runs are held at 6.00pm – 8.30pm

Tuesday 15 April 2014 is the next scheduled night time log book run for Kiama and Shellharbour, leaving from Lake Illawarra PCYC.

All learner drivers must have 40 or more log book hours to take part in the log book run.
