Looking After Your Breasts

75th Anniversary of PCYC NSW

You and your family and friends are invited to join us in celebrating the 75th Anniversary of PCYC NSW.

To mark this milestone Lake Illawarra PCYC will be holding an Open Day on Saturday 17th November 2012, from 10am until 1pm. We will have a police car on show as well as the crime prevention van. Our local fire brigade will also make an appearance. Most of our activities will be on display with various demonstrations on show throughout the day. There will be a jumping castle, sumo suits, raffle prizes and a sausage sizzle.

Attached I have a flyer regarding this event. It would be greatly appreciated if you could display this flyer in your reception area’s and/or pass on this information to your networks.

Fun Fridays

Just a reminder that Lake Illawarra PCYC is running Fun Fridays throughout term 4!

It is a free activity for primary school aged children between the ages of 5 and 12. It will run from 6pm until 8pm each Friday. Places are limited so please book your child’s place beforehand by phoning the club on 4296 4448. Children must be a member of the club to participate in this program.

LOVEBiTES Facilitator Training

Illawarra Women’s Health Centre would like to invite community workers and service providers to attend. LOVEBiTES is a respectful relationship education program that focusses on the development of respectful relationships and violence prevention for 14-16 year olds. It aims to break inter-generational cycles of domestic and family violence and the increasing rates of sexual assault, but supporting young people to develop respectful relationships. Young people develop the skills to identify what a safe, equal and health relationship is, develop respectful conflict resolution skills and problem-solving skills and find support services in their community if they need help (please see attached ‘Community Handout’)

LOVEBiTES was developed by NAPCAN (National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect) in partnership with community organisations and teaching staff, based on best practise standards.  It has been stringently evaluated. The program includes a one-day workshop usually run in, but not restricted to, a school-setting, and designed to suit NSW Department of Education’s PDHPE curriculum.
