Learner Log Book Run | Wollongong

Picture1The Learner Log Book Run is a practical course for learner drivers who have completed a minimum of 40 log book hours.

  • The program provides learner drivers and their supervisors the opportunity to participate in a planned drive which follows a route in the Wollongong region including a range of driving experiences.
  • Participants will also experience a Random Breath Test (RBT) and Driver Reviver rest stop which informs them how to deal with fatigue.
  • The program is delivered in partnership with Wollongong City Council, Bulli Police & Community Youth Club and Volunteers in Policing  to help learner drivers complete the compulsory 120 hours of driving experience required.
  • The Learner Driver Log Book Run program reinforces the importance of educating young people early in their driving life about behavioural issues that could one day save their lives.

Topic: Supporting children and families around parental substance use

Our Innovative Practice forums aim to increase knowledge about best practice approaches that contribute to better outcomes for children and families. This forum will focus on both the research and practice behind how we can better support children and families when there is parental substance misuse. Dr Stephanie Taplin is the Associate Director of Institute of Child Protection Studies (ICPS) at the Australian Catholic University and she will discuss her research around parental substance use and child protection.

Kerry Moore is the Senior Manager at Barnardos, South Coast Centre and Hunter/ Central Coast. Kerry will provide a practical example of the work Barnados are doing in their Substance Use in Pregnancy and Parenting Service (SUPPS).

The NSW Family Services constitution provides for the election of half of the members of the Board of Governance every year. The term of appointment is two years.

This year, calls for nomination are required for the positions of Chairperson, and Ordinary Board Member (three positions to be filled).

If you are interested in nominating for a position on the NSW Family Services Board of Governance you should complete the forms that were recently sent to your via email and then return them in accordance with the instructions contained on Nomination Form.

If more nominations are received than positions available, a postal ballot of eligible members will be held in accordance with the provisions of our constitution.
