NSW Health has partnered with the Department of Family and Community Services for Youth Week 2017. Now in its sixth year, the partnership aims to build greater engagement in the youth sector to help improve the sexual health of young people in NSW. Sexually Transmissible Infections are increasing in NSW with 70% of Chlamydia notifications are young people. The need for LGAs and youth organisations to focus on sexual health is now higher than ever

Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) Disability Action Plan (DRAFT)
Your organisation / committee is invited to provide feedback on the DRAFT Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) Disability Action Plan, 2014 – 2017(summary of Strategies, Actions and Outcomes).
This plan provides a shared vision for a person centred system, an outline of what could change to achieve it, and a series of practical options to deliver person centred access to services and provision of care. There are five priority areas in the plan, each with strategies, actions and outcomes that both consumers and the ISLHD have identified as being achievable within a three year time frame.
The participation of consumers and staff in the development of this plan has been critical in better understanding the experiences of people with disabilities and their carers in accessing and using our services. The feedback we have received to date has greatly influenced the development of this plan and in particular the actions to improve access to mainstream services, and the identification, assessment, referral and coordination of care for people with disabilities.
Attached is the DRAFT summary plan together with a feedback form for your organisation to complete. Comments and suggestions can be made up by fax (4223 8225) or email until Friday 26 July 2013:
- Fiorina.mastroianni@sesiahs.health.nsw.gov.au 4223 8592
- Lucia.vellar@sesiahs.health.nsw.gov.au 4223 8593
Your feedback is greatly appreciated. We also encourage you to circulate the DRAFT plan amongst your networks.

Racism. It Stops With Me
During the National Anti-Racism Consultations I heard many stories of racism. I would like to share just one with you that has touched me:
“I have a Cambodian daughter-in-law and mixed-race grandchildren. I accompanied them to a mothers group at the library. Nobody talked to my daughter-in-law or the children until people realised I was with them. This makes me feel very sad and concerned for the potential difficulties in the future for my grandchildren”.
Did you know that more than 1 in 10 Australians experienced discrimination on the basis of the colour of their skin, ethnic origin or their religion in the last 12 months?
So what can we do about this? We can all agree – Racism. It Stops With Me
One way you can drive this Campaign is by signing up your employer, school, sporting or community organisation. Check out our business and community prospectus for more info. Let’s rally together- speak out and send out a message that cannot be ignored- RACISM. IT STOPS WITH ME.
You can spread the word by following us on twitter re-tweeting and using the hash-tag #RacismStopsWithMe to promote the campaign.
