Questacon recently opened a subsidised transport programme to support eligible disadvantaged groups to visit our Centre in Parkes, Canberra through our equity of access initiative.
The Questacon Transport Assistance Programme provides opportunity for disadvantaged groups to develop their interest in science and technology by visiting Questacon. We encourage groups to enjoy other national attractions on the day of their visit, noting any associated costs are not covered by the programme.
The QTAP covers the cost of coach hire or petrol for group travel to visit the Centre and is available each Financial Year until funds are exhausted. Openings are now available for groups to book for the period up to 30 June 2016. Questacon will reimburse the travel cost for an eligible group upon receipt of their travel invoice following their visit to the Centre. Eligible groups will also be entitled to reduced admission price at $7.50 per participant.
To be eligible, groups must be associated with a not-for-profit organisation and reside in proximity to Canberra suitable for day travel to Questacon. Groups may include members from diverse backgrounds that include:
• Immigrants or refugees
• Vulnerable or disadvantaged persons
• Mental or physical disability
• Aged care
• Other disadvantaged groups deemed eligible by Questacon.
