Australia’s leading traumatic brain injury not-for-profit – Connectivity Traumatic Brain Injury Australia, has recently created concussion fact sheets that have been translated into multiple languages. We currently have concussion fact sheets on Falls and Domestic Violence that we encourage and welcome you to share with your community, to help educate and raise awareness on this important and often misunderstood injury.

Who will benefit?
The fact sheets have been translated into 10 languages including Arabic, Farsi, Haka Chin, Hindi, Karen, Nepali, Sinhalese, Tagalog, Traditional Chinese and Vietnamese.

What is the cost for using the fact sheets?
There is no cost to access and download the fact sheets. They have been created completely free of charge for all users.

Who should receive the fact sheets?
Anyone who is at risk of domestic violence or a fall, or who you suspect may have recently suffered a concussion may need this information.

Who created these fact sheets?
The fact sheets were developed by Connectivity Traumatic Brain Injury Australia and translated with the assistance of ISHAR Multicultural Women’s Health Services.

Go4Fun

goGo4Fun® is a healthy lifestyle program to improve health, fitness, self-esteem and confidence in children. The program is for 7-13 year olds who are above their healthy weight.

Sessions run for two hours and include games, activities, tips on healthy food, label reading and portion sizes plus much more!

Go4Fun programs for Term 1, 2017 will be held in the following locations:
  • Wollongong – Beaton Park Leisure Centre, Tuesdays afternoons from 4-6pm
  • Wollongong – University of Wollongong, Saturday mornings 9:30 -11:30am
  • Berkeley – Illawarra Sports High School, Wednesday afternoons from 4-6pm

LGBTI Aged Care Training

A free, essential and relevant one day training course, delivered by ACON, for all workers in the aged care sector across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven to help promote a better understanding of the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people, and provide staff with more confidence to deliver an inclusive, best practice service.

ACON is NSW’s leading health promotion organisation specialising in HIV and LGBTI health, and is also Australia’s largest and most recognised national provider for LGBTI inclusion training programs.

This national aged care sector training initiative, funded by the Australian Government, is presented by ACON’s Teddy Cook and Ryan Jackson with support from the Illawarra Forum.

Places are limited and will fill up quickly so RSVP without delay by Wednesday 23 November. Representatives from each organisation will be limited to three (3).

Stall Holders Wanted

Carers NSW is looking for stall holders to take part at a carers event being held at Dapto Ribbonwood Centre on Wednesday 26th October 10.00am – 2.00 pm to celebrate their 40th birthday.

There is no cost to be part of the event and Carers NSW will provide 1 x trestle table and 1 x chair for your use throughout the day.
